Meet the Team

I completed my MBBCh at Wits University, followed by specialist training and an MMed in Ophthalmology at the University of Cape Town. I also hold a Diploma in Ophthalmology from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa.My clinical experience was shaped through years in the public sector at Tygerberg Hospital, Groote Schuur Hospital, Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital, and George Hospital. I practise as a general ophthalmologist with a special interest in cataract and anterior segment surgery, glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology, and paediatric ophthalmology, including squint surgery.
I am deeply committed to community service, with a strong focus on underserved rural areas. Through ongoing charity work and collaboration with Grace Vision, I help provide accessible cataract surgery and eye care to patients in need.

Dr Christopher Mark Johnston is a Cape Town ophthalmologist with experience in medical and surgical retina. He has been involved in the ophthalmology training programme at Stellenbosch University and Tygerberg Academic Hospital, where he assisted with the Medical and Surgical Retina and Uveitis service.
His practice includes the assessment and management of retinal and general ophthalmic conditions, with particular experience in retinal disease. He is based in Cape Town and consults from Gardens Eye Centre 2 days a week.
